Day 31

I'm going through the motions, every day seems the same. Not complaining here, the novelty of my fasting wore off and now I'm settled in a new routine. Not a bad thing though.
I'm continuing my training for the marathon, I did my first long(ish) run on Friday, a 10 miler and it went well. Beside water I took some grapefruit/peach juice with me to re-fuel.

More interesting news. I'm over the first 30 days, and it's time for the stats:

At the start:                                     After 30 days:

Weight:                   211.5 lbs                                                 189 lbs.
Bust:                   115 cms (45.5")                                   110 cm (43 1/4")
Under breast:         96 cms (38")                                       93 cm (36 3/4")
Waist:                  102 cms (40")                                       92 cm (36 1/4")
Hip:                   113 cms (44.5")                                     108 cm (42 1/2")
Thigh:                  60 cms (23.5")                                       57 cm (22 1/2")

That means 22.5 lbs weight loss (10.64% of my body weight) in 30 days. Waist/hip ratio down from 0.9 to 0.85. Still high, but I'm getting there. (In case you haven't heard, waist/hip ratio can determine the likely hood to a heart attack and also can indicate carbohydrate digestion problems. If it's higher than 0.9 for men or 0.8 for women, it means the person has trouble with carbs.)

I'm really hoping to continue the weight loss with the same tempo... :)

Day 24

I'm totally lazy writing everyday and honestly I can't write much interesting. Every day is the same, I'm doing great, no major detox symptoms, drinking 2 litres of green and 1 litre fruit juice a day. A week ago on Sunday I kept a water fasting day and yesterday I didn't drink greens, only a litre of melon juice and a litre of tomato juice.

I haven't been doing Callanetics much, but I still bike to work as much as I can. Today I felt VERY energetic and I got to work in 52 minutes, a course record (ususally 55-60 min. ride). I was really fast! (Fast on fast). Then after work I biked home, drank some water, changed shoes and went for a run. I haven't been running for so long! I was slow, and only did 2.5 miles, but hey, I already biked 24 miles today!

Call me crazy, but today, 7 weeks (48 days) before the NYC Marathon I've decided to start training. I was supposed to start back in July, but I just didnt feel like running. I was planning to cancel and use my guarantied spot next year, but today at work I learnt, that although if I cancel next year I have to pay the enrty fee again. That's $140!!! I'm cheap! I won't waste that much money! I went online and I found a 7 or 8 week long (short) training plan what someone had done succesfully. I don't care if I have to do walk breaks, but I'll finish. And probably I'll be the first person who's done a marathon while juice fasting! :))

So that's the pan. Fasting, biking, running,  visulazing and finising the Marathon. Crazy, crazy chick!

Day 15

All is good. I really can't write much, every day is almost the same. I'm drinking my 2-3 litres of juices (never 4, it wold be just too much) and feeling good. No major detox symptoms beside having a coated tounge, I sleep like a baby and I go to bed early these days, around 11 (it's early for me). I have vivid dreams.

I picked up knitting again. I have a project I've started a year and half ago, hopefully this time I'll fininsh it. It's a scarf. It's a scraf, because that's the easiest to make. I'm really not good at knitting and it doesn't look nice, but I don't mind. It's relaxing.

I stepped on the scale today, I'm down to 199 lbs. I always have very high expectations, so while it's not bad of a weight loss in 2 weeks, I was hoping hoping for something grander. Yup, that's just me. :)
I'm rligiously listening to the sumlminal weightloss CD as well as Jon Gabriel's weightloss meditation CD. I should do meditations on my own, too. I keep postponing. (Yup, thta's me again)

Did I mention yet how expensive this is? The first week I've spent $175, this week $170 on food. And I only drink 2-3 litres of juices! Oops!

Anway, all is good. Mood is good. Energy level is good.
Later gator!

Day 12

No more Cascara Sagrada for me. I don't care if I were supposed to take it 'til day 40. I had a very bad case of diarrhea yesterday, the same way like in the first 2 days.
And if coming out everything too fast wasn't enough, my 1 litre of plum juice was so terrible tart, i doubt it had much sugar in it. So I was hungry a lot. On my way home I bought some fresh orange juice (tasted way too sweet) but it helped a lot.

Today I made my fruit juice form pears, so I don't have to worry about sufficient calorie intake.
I bike today to work. It take me at least 10 minutes longer than usual and felt like a constant uphill tanks to the strong headwind. I hope this wind will help on my way home, but usually it changes direction as the sun goes down (which means I'll have headwind again)

Today is the 2nd and last work day of the week. Hallelujah! I'll have a 4 day weekend (I deserve it). Time to sleep, rest, knit, meditate, bike, exercise and of course juice!

Day 11

I didn't feel like writing in the last few days, so here is the holiday weekend in a nutshell: I did step on the scale last Saturday. I tried not to, but the scale and my curiosity won. I've lost 9 lbs in the first week. That's good!
On Sunday I biked 30 miles. That's good, too. Besides that, weekend and Labor day was uneventful up until last night, when I couldn't sleep although I was tired at 10.45 when I went to bed. At midnight I was really hungry, drank a half glass of beet root juice and almost throw up. I can't even think of beets anymore. I poured the left over half glass in the sink this morning.

I'm ok now,  I still have a bit of an upset stomach and had actually yesterday morning, too. (No, I'm not pregnant) Otherwise I'm good. Little cranky. Sleepy, hardly slept enough, but thanks god this week is just 2 days (jewish holiday).

Day 8

Yesterday was the first day when I felt, that I'm fasting and I'm hungry. I guess during the first 6 days my body was just glad that there is no more binging in lo mein, not it started to give signals that it needs more. At least I will finally be able to drink 4 litre of juice. The only problem is that it's really expensive. On my first week (with only 3 litre of juice a day) I spent $ 175. In a week!!! Ouch!

Although I have cravings I feel good today, too. So far I had a litre of green juice from spinach, celery and lemon and some fruit juice from peaches. I'm just about to juice some cucumber/zucchini/apple and to watch a movie on Netflix (Seven years in Tibet). I just wish the guys turned down the music and wouldn't party front of my house so I could actually hear to film! Grrrrrrrrrrr! I wanna move out of NYC! It's not just insanely expensive it's also crowded, stinky, dirty and a noise level drives me crazy!

Day 7

I feel sooo good! I can't stop smiling. I also feel very slender today. It has nothing to do with my reflection in the mirror or with the scale (which I refuse to step on), this feeling isn't only physicial, it comes from inside. And that's the best! I strongly believe that we become our thoughts and feelings. I am already a healthy and slender person, even if the manifestation will take time. I LOVE LIFE! :) :) :)

Day 6

Long day...I haven't had the chance to write up until now. Last night insomnia kicked in again, quite intensely this time. I went to sleep around 11 pm, I felt tried. Fell asleep relatively fast but not too deep yet, when after about 30-40 minutes I woke up for some noise from the street...and was up 'til 3 am!!! I've got up numerous time, went to bathroom, put on some relaxing music, put my blind fold on with lavender, but nothing helped. A 1:45am I found myself in the kitchen hand-squeezing some water melon... :)

Although I felt sleepy in the morning and snoozed off on the subway I was in a great spirit when I got in to the office. Had a busy morning (and day) but I found a minute to log in here and I noticed that 3 days ago someone left a comment on my blog [ Hi Erin! :) ] What a great surprise! I didn't think that anyone reads it. I felt really grateful that I  might inspire someone.
Right after that discovery entered to my office the Fedex delivery person, who is a Muslim lady. Every time I ask her how she is, she answers "Thank you, I am blessed" I told her ow much I love that she says that every time. She said we forget so easily how blessed we are. We have a job, roof above our head and food on our table (or juice in my jar). And I truly felt blessed and happy.  Altough my day was busy, long and stressful in the office my good mood stayed with me most of the day and I was smiling a lot. It's only my 6th day in the fast and I already feel peaceful, like I haven't been for long. (Just as I write this I can't stop smiling)

A little about my juices today: Lots of yumminess! I made 1 litre (and some) green juice today, using only 2 lbs. of red leaf lettuce, 2 medium heads of celery and a lime. The best one so far! I think I've been putting too many things in it before. To keep it simple made it more tasteful and I really enjoyed drinking it. The 2nd litre juice was made of beetroots and carrots. Beautiful color, lot of antioxidant, great taste! It was probably a bit unbalancing though...as soon as I drank a glass of it my stomach started to growl, I got bloated and even a bit of diarrhea (which could have been the result of Cascara Sagrada, too., I took 2 capsules last night) I have to experience what works for me.
My fruit juice for the day was made of apple-pear-pineapple. Delish! I was thinking that after the fast I would blend these fruits together and then freeze it for popsicles. Great summer treat.

I didn't get out the office 'til 7.45 tonight and I still had to do go shopping for some organic coffee and also to Container Store for Mason jars (I've been using PBA free plastic water bottles). Seems like the Universe is working with me, I interacted a half-dozen sales clerks and all of them was super friendly and helpful. A very pleasant shopping experience.

So overall I had a great day again. I am blessed, I am grateful.
And very sleepy, too.... Good night! :)

Day 5

I'm glad to report that I'm doing great. No major detox symptoms so far, this juice fast is easier that I thought. I still have problem to drink 4 quart of juice, I'm glad if I drink 3. I know I should have more but I'm just not hungry. I think my body got so fed up with the terrible binge eating I've done on and off in the last few months that it really needs a big break and doesn't want more calories that it's getting now.

This morning I biked to work and it took me only about 56-57 minutes (that's quite fast). I also did callanetics last night, so I guess today I'll have a bit more appetite.

Today's green juice is made from 2 heads of romaine lettuce, 1 bunch of parsley, 1 bunch of dandelion, 2 medium heads of celery, 2 large cucumber, 2 apples, a lime and some ginger. First it seemed too bitter when I tasted it, but now as I'm drinking it it kind of tastes like a green lemonade. It's pretty good!
For fruit juice I have apple-pear juice form 6 apples and 5 pears. Very very tasty, although maybe a bit too sweet. I'm going to drink it between green juices hoping it won't be too unbalancing.

Last night I started to take Cascara Sagrada, because I haven't had bowel movement. The first 2 days I went to the bathroom so many times, then it just stopped. (Of course I'm doing the morning enema, every day for the first week, than less frequently)

Yesterday I did some more food shopping in Whole Foods and bought some organic watermelon. It was 2 for $6 (this small "personal" melons, about a size of a human head) The cashier charged  $7.98 though. When I went to costumer service to complain, they only made me pay for one to compensate their mistake, so at the end I got 2 melons for 3 bucks. Really good price! Unfortunately I was on my way home when I noticed that it's seedless. :( Well, I'm sure it won't do any damage to me, but I'm not happy about it. How they can label a genetically engineered produce as organic??? That's just beyond me!
